THEN: The formation of the UNA, the high threat of eco-terrorism, the mammoth rates of unemployment and subsequent escape into a world of virtual reality are things any student can read about in their 21st century textbooks and part of the normal background noise to Freya Kallas's life. Until that world starts to crumble.

NOW: It's 1985. Freya Kallas has just moved across the world and into a new life. On the outside, she fits in at her new high school, but Freya feels nothing but removed. Her mother blames it on the grief over her father's death, but how does that explain the headaches and why do her memories feel so foggy? When Freya lays eyes on Garren Lowe, she can't get him out of her head. She's sure that she knows him, despite his insistence that they've never met. As Freya follows her instincts and pushes towards hidden truths, the two of them unveil a strange and dangerous world where their days may be numbered. Unsure who to trust, Freya and Garren go on the run from powerful forces determined to tear them apart and keep them from discovering the truth about their shared pasts (and futures), her visions, and the time and place they really came from.

First off lets get the technicalities out of the way. I was provided a copy of this book to review through Netgalley. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated in any way for them.

Review:

Freya is your average teenage girl living in 1980's suburbia. Freya is having a hard time adjusting and the strange headaches aren't helping one bit either. On a trip into the city Freya meets a mysterious boy whom she feels connected to and its then that she realizes her world isn't what it seems but how its connected to the mysterious boy is the most mind boggling of all.

Part time-travel romance, part Dystopian Yesterday allows the reader a glimpse into the future and believe me when I say its not all its cracked up to be.

My Thoughts On Yesterday by C.K. Kelly Martin

The Writing- Wow can this Author write. The characters were beautifully fleshed out and I really just cannot express how much I loved the narrative. That being said I could of used with less Pop culture references they did feel a bit heavy handed at times.

The Twist- I'm usually not a fan of that big AH HA! moment but I really felt in this book it worked. Yes, it could of had a bit slower reveal but it wasn't necessarily flawed nor did it take away from the enjoyment of the book.

Love Story- Usually I'm not a fan of to much romance but in this book the romance worked beautifully, it was an integral part of the story. Plus on the upside we didn't have a Love triangle the romance between Freya and Garren was pretty cut and dry.

Overall this book was a great read. It had a great blend of many of my favorite genres and like I mentioned above Ms. Martin can write. I think the negative for me comes from the pacing. The beginning was a bit confusing and then at the end it felt a bit rushed. I would of enjoyed having a slower reveal. I've definitely become of fan of this Author after reading Yesterday and hope maybe she revisits this book in the future. If your a fan of Dystopians and want one with a unique Time Traveling twist then I highly suggest picking this up. I will be rating Yesterday by C.K. Kelly Martin ★★★★.
